SUMMARY:Samskṛtam Reading Class (SRC)
DESCRIPTION:Goal:\n\nSamskṛtam Reading Class (SRC) program for children a
 nd adults aims to enable children and adults of San Antonio Chinmaya Missi
 on families read Samskṛtam comfortably. An additional goal is to enable 
 every student in this class to read simple prayers.\n\nMotivation: Why Le
 arn Samskṛtam?\n\n1. Samskṛtam is the language in which our (Sanatana 
 Dharma) philosophy and way of life has been codified\n2. Learning to read 
 Samskṛtam is critical to understanding and discovering our roots\n3. Lea
 rning Samskṛtam helps us to fluently and properly chant simple Shlokas a
 nd stotras\n4. It is a lot of fun to learn a new language.\n\nWhat:\n1. In
 troduction to Samskṛtam using IAST and Devanagari alphabets for reading 
 and writing\n2. Lessons on IAST and Devanagari script reading - simple wor
 ds and sentences (with meanings)\n3. Primer on ‘Chandas’ - meters of s
 hloka composition\n4. Reading lessons on shlokas from various scriptures i
 ncluding Subhashitaani\, Hitopadesa\, Ramayana\n5. Class material will be
